Sewing!

The thing I love about yoga classes is the sharing. In my career as a yoga teacher I have come across so many talented people doing something that they are passionate about. I always have 15 minutes after a yoga class to encourage sharing of information and experiences. There is a lovely sense of community!

So with that in mind I thought it important to carry that through on my yoga website and the first person I would like to introduce is a lady who I have known for a long time and completely changed her jobs - they couldn't be more different.

She makes the most beautiful bolsters and yoga bags in gorgeous fabrics. I let her introduce herself:

My name is Loren and I live in Shirrell Heath with my husband, two children and my little black dog, Molly. In my spare time I love going for a walk with my dog, do exercise and I enjoy yoga. I attend classes in hatha and dynamic yoga with Ineke at yogabasic. Yoga has helped me to relax and wind down after a busy day, which was a life saver mentally when I was still practising law! Now it is a life saver physically after bending over a sewing machine all day!

I came to sewing later in life after a career in law. Sewing, was not something I enjoyed at school - to put it mildly! However, making things for my own home sparked a passion for creating soft furnishings. I completed various courses to improve my skills and then started to make soft furnishings for others. This grew into Willow House Interiors, which is now a thriving small business.

Recently I have created some yoga mat bags and bolster cushions for several clients.

I'm now determined to pass on my passion to youngsters who, with some basic lessons and skills, are able to create something exciting and useful for their room, to wear or give as a gift. Alongside running Willow House Interiors, I also teach sewing to children and adults on a 1:1 basis and run a sewing club for primary school children.
